WASHINGTON, D.C. – July 30, 2026 – The Association of American Railroads (AAR) released the following statement from President and CEO Ian Jefferies after the Railroad Retirement Board Stability Act cleared the Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pension Committee:
“The Association of American Railroads applauds the Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pension Committee for successfully advancing the Railroad Retirement Board Stability Act, a critical step toward stabilizing the administrative support needed to address the Railroad Retirement Board’s (RRB) long-standing technology modernization needs and delivering quickly and efficiently the benefits which America’s railroaders have earned. We applaud Sens. Bill Cassidy and Bernie Sanders, whose collaboration, commitment, and leadership were instrumental to clearing this initial hurdle. We look forward to passage by the full U.S. Senate, swift action in the U.S. House of Representatives, and enactment of this bipartisan, commonsense legislation to speed the delivery of railroaders’ retirement benefits through increased administrative funding, greater flexibility, and improved operating systems.”
