How do I order AAR publications?

AAR Members have two options to get publications:

  • Free download: Log in by clicking on the Member Login in the upper left corner of the screen. On the initial Members’ page, click on the AAR Publications link, which will bring you into the Members’ Publications section. Click on a publication’s name to see a list of the editions that are available, and then click on the edition you want to download. The publication download page will have links to download the report (in pdf format) and/or a data file.
  • Purchase Print Copies at Reduced Prices: After logging in, AAR Members may order print versions from the AAR’s online catalog at reduced, Member prices.

Non-AAR Members may place orders for both download and print versions of AAR publications via the AAR’s online catalog.

Is my company an AAR Member?

AAR Member prices apply to those whose companies are AAR Full, Special, Non-ClassI Railroad Associate or AAR Associate Members. Click on our Members List to see if your company is an AAR Member. If you still have questions about your membership level or are interested in becoming a member, please contact Kelly Donley.

How do I get an AAR Member ID?

If your company is an AAR Member (see preceding question) but you do not have a UserID and password, you can register here.

How do I place an order using the online catalog?

Click on AAR Publications Catalog on the sub-menu under Publications in the left navigation panel to access the catalog. Click on the name of an individual publication or a package of publications to view additional information including a description, sample publication, and a list of available editions. Click on Add to Cart next to the edition that you want to order, and it will be added to your AAR Shopping Cart. When viewing the cart, you may click on the Continue Shopping button to order additional publications, or the Check Out button to complete your purchase. Fill out the entire Check Out form, including your credit card information (American Express, MasterCard or Visa), and then click Continue. Review your order information and click on the Confirm and Process Order button to complete your purchase.

Will I receive a confirmation of my order?

Yes, a confirmation page will be displayed when your purchase is confirmed. You will also receive an e-mail confirmation of your order.

How do I pick up my online order?

Your confirmation e-mail will provide you with a link to your My Publications page where you can download the publication. (Your publication will be available for 30days, and may be downloaded at any time by clicking on the My Publications link in the left navigation bar under Publications). The confirmation e-mail provides new customers their UserID and temporary password, which are needed to access My Publications.

When will I receive my print order?

If you select standard delivery, orders are typically shipped within 2 weeks. For Rush Delivery, your order will be shipped the same day if placed by 12:30 p.m. Eastern time. Orders placed after 12:30p.m. will be shipped the next business day. Delivery schedule will vary for products that are temporarily out of stock.

Is there a shipping and handling charge?

Yes, a shipping and handling charge of $6 is assessed for each print order. For Rush Delivery, a shipping and handling charge of $36 will apply to all such orders shipped to U.S. or Canadian addresses and $56 for shipments to other countries. There is no shipping and handling charge for orders delivered online.

How can I determine when a publication will be released?

Our publication schedule is updated frequently as new editions become available. Members have the option to be alerted by e-mail when new editions of publications are released by clicking on the Alert E-mail box in the Members Publications section. To unsubscribe, uncheck the corresponding box.

Can I get earlier editions of publications than the ones listed?

We have limited quantities of earlier editions of some of our publications. Please e-mail us at and let us know what publications you are interested in and we will provide information regarding availability and pricing.

Why can't I order this year's edition of some publications?

AAR publications are not available for pre-ordering. The latest edition will be added to the catalog as soon as it is published. Check the publication schedule for up-to-date information about planned release dates.

What if I forgot my User ID and/or password?

If you have forgotten your User ID and/or password, you can request a reminder e-mail.

How do I change my e-mail address and/or password?

Once logged in, click on the User Profile and/or Change Password links at the top of the screen
