The Associate Advisory Board (AAB) consists of eleven members; nine gold level associate members and two non-voting AAR representatives. It was created to allow AAR associate members a structure through which to more fully participate in the association.

Members of AAR’s 2009 Associates Advisory Board met on December 3, 2009 in Washington, DC and re-elected Jack Thomas of First Union Rail Corporation as its Chair and Tom Smithberger of HDR Engineering as Vice Chair. Their current terms will expire in December 2010.

The AAB, selecting from among almost 100 submitted nominations from all gold level associate members, also made 19 appointments to 12 AAR committees that report to the Safety and Operations Management Committee.
